Dog Sledding Rides
Standard Sled Rides - Our Standard Dogsled Rides bring you along wooded trails past frozen ponds and lakes on your way to a spectacular view of Jay Peak. Each sled can accommodate 2 people at a time (up to 250 lbs). Two sleds are available if parties of 4 wish to trek together. Please contact us for arrangements for groups larger than 4 people.
Moonlight/Starlight Rides - This adrenaline pumping ride is Mother Nature's answer to the Roller Coaster Tunnel! Using headlamps, you'll experience the Vermont landscape as few ever do while you are whisked away on this nighttime run under a moonlit or starlit sky. Although it is not a requirment that riders have previous dogsledding experience, it is helpful. Adults only on nighttime rides, please.
Kids Rides - For children who want to experience dogsledding, our Kid's Rides are the perfect introduction. A shorter tour than our standard ride and available on the Mountain Haven property at our kennel site, these rides provide a very controlled atmosphere where parents can watch their children as they go 'round on the sled. Perfect for photo ops for next season's holiday cards. After a half hour dogsledding ride, kids and parents can enjoy half an hour of sledding on our sledding hill.
Overnight Dogsledding Adventures - A unique adventure for anyone who wants to experience Vermont in the wintertime! Imagine yourself dogsledding along a snow-covered trail through pristine northern Vermont woodlands. Your destination is "base camp", where we set up for a fabulous Winter Camping experience. Even though you are in the great outdoors, we
provide plenty of creature comforts, including a private wall tent with a wood stove and cots, an evening meal with wine, and a hearty breakfast to get you ready for the day. Limited to 2 persons.
Two Night Dogsledding Adventures - Extend your Overnight Dogsledding Adventure! In addition to the activities described in our Overnight Dogsledding Adventure, our Two Night Trip includes a day of adventure tailored to your tastes. Choose Snowshoeing, Ice Fishing for Northern Pike (fishing licenses included), a Winter Survival Course, or just more and more Dogsledding!
About Our Sled Dogs Our dogs have been bred and raised here in our own kennel, located in the Deep Gibou of Montgomery Center, Vermont. Our female, Natasha, was given to us
by our friend and Iditarod runner, Bruce Linton, before he moved back to Alaska. Our male, Naugh-Tue, comes from our friends, the Reddingtons of Manely Springs, Alaska,
whose father, Joe Reddington, started the Iditarod. Natasha and Naugh-Tue's seven children and our two black goldens (part Husky, part Golden) make up the rest of our team - come visit Neptune, Mercury,
Venus, Earth (Cowboy), Jupiter, Uranis, Grizzly, and Lily, who were all raised by hand with our grandchildren, so they are very friendly and eager to take
you on a dogsledding adventure through the backwoods of Vermont.
About Our Sleds
Our dog sleds are handmade from local woods and are specifically designed to give you the experience of mushing (dog sledding) with the comfort of having an experienced musher
behind you on the sled.
